One person is dead after a fireworks accident in Delaware County on Friday, July 4th.
According to the New York State Police, the incident occurred at around 9:40 p.m. on Ridge Runner Road in Hancock.
An investigation determined that two males were setting off fireworks from a pontoon boat on Somerset Lake. Several fireworks ignited at the same time and caused an explosion.
One male was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The New York State Police was assisted by the Hancock Fire Department, Hancock EMS and Delaware County 911 Center.
