A Code Blue is in effect in Broome County. It gets activated when the temperature drops below 32°. Its goal is to get people off the streets. There are three emergency shelter facilities in Broome County available for homeless housing. The YWCA (80 Hawley St. Binghamton), YMCA (61 Susquehanna St. Binghamton) and the Volunteers of America (320 Chenango St. Binghamton). Anyone in need of shelter can go there to get out of the weather without concern for payment. Local Law Enforcement may be able to assist with transportation.
