FROM VESTAL POLICE DEPARTMENT:
At 12:28pm on Saturday December 15 the Vestal Police responded to a reported dispute on the Vestal Parkway in the area of Rano Blvd. Minutes later we also responded to the area of IHOP for a report of a male with a stab wound to the wrist.
Officers determined that the two incidents were related and that there had been an altercation between two individuals in the area of 2548 Vestal Parkway East.
The ensuing police investigation determined that a verbal exchange occurred between the subject in the car and Benjamin Galletti. Galletti approached the vehicle as it was stopped in traffic and a physical altercation then took place during which time the male in the car was stabbed several times.
The male in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital by Vestal EMS where he was treated and released. The other party involved in the altercation was identified as Galletti, 29, of Binghamton.
Galletti was found to be a fugitive from justice from the state of New Jersey and was arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Jail. On Tuesday December 18, Galletti was brought from the jail and arraigned in Town of Vestal Court on a charge of Assault in the second degree, a Class D Felony. He was returned to the Broome County Jail pending further court action.
