BINGHAMTON — The Guthrie Clinic is pleased to announce that Guthrie Lourdes Hospital has earned a spot as one of Forbes’ Top Hospitals 2026, the inaugural year for this ranking. This listing is intended to be a resource for patients when selecting a hospital, and for hospitals and health systems seeking to measure themselves against others.
Guthrie Lourdes Hospital earned a four-star overall rating and is the only hospital in Broome County to be included.
“This recognition confirms what those in the Greater Binghamton region have known for decades: Guthrie Lourdes Hospital offers its patients and their loved ones high-quality care and experience,” said Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO, The Guthrie Clinic. “It’s a legacy we’re proud to continue and expand upon.”
In creating the list, Forbes evaluated nearly 5,4000 general acute care hospitals throughout the United States. These are facilities that provide both urgent care through their emergency departments as well as short-term care for injuries such as broken bones or burns, serious medical conditions such as heart attacks and stroke, surgical care and childbirth.
Of those, almost 2,600 were eligible for consideration based on Forbes’ criteria, and only 1,298 landed on the Top Hospitals list. Selection was based on patient outcomes, best practices, value and patient experience, while taking into account social factors that can impact health.
The recognition from Forbes follows recent accolades for Lourdes Hospital that include a #1 ranking in New York State for Surgical Care from Healthgrades and high performing ratings from U.S. News & Worlds Report for treatment of heart arrhythmia and pneumonia.
