Nick Libous has announced a run for the open New York State Assembly seat in the 123rd district.
Longtime Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo recently announced she will not run for re-election. She has served in the Assembly since 2004.
Libous announced his candidacy on Sunday night. The Democrat previously ran for Broome County Clerk in 2025, but was defeated by Republican Aaron Martin.
The Democratic primary will now include Libous, local attorney Dan Norton and former Binghamton City Council Member Dan Livingston.
Broome County Republicans are also expected to announce a candidate soon as they look to flip the seat in the general election.
