New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced a major settlement involving the deadly shooting at a Tops in Buffalo in 2022.

A gun accessory manufacturer, Mean Arms, is being held accountable for aiding the Buffalo shooter, Conklin native Payton Gendron, who killed 10 people and injured three others in the shooting.

Gendron used an illegal assault weapon in the racially-motivated attack. Mean Arms made and sold the MA Lock, which was a device to make rifles compliant with New York law but was easily removable.

Under the settlement with the New York Attorney General’s Office, Mean Arms will permanently stop selling the MA Lock in New York. They will also pay the $1.7 million dollars in restitution.

That money will go to the victims’ families, injured individuals and traumatized survivors.

According to WBNG-TV, the owner of Vintage Arms in Endicott has agreed to not seek licensing to sell guns again. The store, which was on Nanticoke Ave., has permanently closed.

The gunman’s parents will also provide money to the victims’ families. The amount has not been released.
