One dead, one arrested in Binghamton stabbing

One person was killed and another arrested following a stabbing incident in Binghamton on Friday night.

According to Binghamton Police, 54-year-old Roy A. Peterson has been charged with murder in the second degree, which is a Classs A-1 felony.

Police responded to a housing facility on Virgil Street for a report that someone had been stabbed.

A victim with a significant stab wound to the abdomen was located in the stairwell of the building.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, but later passed away from their injuries.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

Peterson, who stayed in an apartment within the housing facility, was arrested and remanded to the Broome County Jail.
