The Owego Fire Department battled a fire on West Avenue in the Village of Owego on Wednesday evening.
According to Owego Fire Chief Eric Hawkins, all residents were able to escape the home. However, two cats were removed from the fire and unfortunately one did not make it.
The family of three has been displaced until major repairs can be completed.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction.
