A suspicious package shut down part of Binghamton for several hours on Wednesday.

According to Binghamton Police, a package was found at an active construction site for a future travel center on Henry Street.

Police said a worker arrived at the site and found the suspicious package along the fence line.

Out of precaution, the area along Henry Street and Liberty Street were closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

An explosive-detecting dog was brought in to search for other suspicious items. No other packages or devices were found.

The Endicott Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and checked the package, which was deemed to be a non-explosive device.

The incident remains under investigation.
