The Tioga County Public Health Department wants you to know that August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and now is the time to make sure your children are up-to-date on their vaccinations before they go back to school. Parents may receive a letter from the school nurse if their child’s vaccinations are not up-to-date. Often there is only a very short time to get the vaccines done before the child is no longer allowed to go to school. Tioga County Public Health can check your child’s vaccine records before school starts to make sure everything is up-to-date. They can also provide immunizations at little or no cost if your child has Medicaid or no insurance. If you have questions, call them at 607-687-8600.
