The Tioga County Fire Investigation Team is investigating a fatal fire at 1774 Ridge Road in the Town of Barton. The fire was reported at about 4:37AM on Friday. State Troopers became involved after the 71-year-old resident could not be located. At about 12:41PM, the resident was located deceased in the home. The cause and the origin of the fire has not been officially determined and is still under investigation. At this time, the fire does not appear to be suspicious. Other agencies that responded include the Halsey Valley Fire Department, Lockwood Fire Department, Tioga Center Fire Department, Spencer Fire Department, Greater Valley EMS and the Barton Highway Department.
