(Waverly, NY) – The first-year Waverly Archery Team, with 21 Waverly school students from 5th through 11th grade, competed in the 2023 NY State Bullseye Tournament in Syracuse on Friday, March 10. The newly-minted team started the season late, but with the help of Waverly Sportsman’s Club, the team has come a long way.

Eighteen of the 21 archers competed, with Mark Myers and Serenity Relyea shooting 239; Abigail Blauvelt 217; Blake Draper 207; and 5th grader Sawyr Lyons was ranked 15 out of the 33 in her class.

The team ended the day with the team score of 2286, including 30 (10s) and 59 (9s). Eighth-grader Serenity Relyea tied at 239 and took 9th place out of 98 competitors, which qualifiers her to shoot at the Nationals Tournament from May 11-13, in Louisville, Kentucky.

The team will be back in Cicero, NY, on March 25 to compete in the NYS 3D Tournament in hopes they can land a few more archers in the top 10 of their divisions, which will qualify them to shoot the 3D Nationals Tournament in Louisville in May.

The team is coached by Mark Bakley, Dakota Relyea and Caitlin Bakley
