Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce has cancelled the Newark Valley Summerfest this year. However, we would still like to put on a fireworks show on July 25th at dusk, but because of the coronavirus we have been unable to conduct fundraisers. We have set up a GoFundMe page to collect funds. The link to the page is below. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
We ask for your help by donating through this GoFundMe page. Your support can make it possible for us to present a fireworks display for the community. Our goal is $5,000.
The fireworks will be set off on Cooks Hill on property owned by Ed and Holly Hollenbeck instead of our normal venue, the Trout Ponds. From this location people can see for miles around, watching from their front porches or their backyards. We encourage out-of-towners to come to the village and watch from their cars at the Trout Ponds or the Newark Valley High School, keeping in mind the social distancing regulations.
Your Hometown Station WEBO will accompany the fireworks with patriotic music, so bring your portable radio or listen from your vehicle. The Newark Valley Fire Department will be on hand to ensure the safety of all.
Thanks to the Hollenbecks, the Fire Dept, WEBO radio, and you, members of the community, for your support of this project. Please donate whatever you can, then come out on July 25th and enjoy the show. We all need a little lift during these troubled times, and fireworks are just the ticket to brighten our spirits.
