No injuries reported at fire in Ithaca homeless encampment

There were no injuries reported from a large fire that occurred on Wednesday in one of Ithaca’s homeless encampments known as the jungle.

According to the Ithaca Fire Department, the fire started at around 7:45 a.m. behind Lowe’s in Ithaca.

A two-story makeshift shelter was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

It took about an hour to put out the fire and clear the scene.

The shelter was not occupied at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
