NY State Police identify victim in fatal Apalachin fire

The New York State Police have identified the victim in the fatal fire in Apalachin last month.

According to police, 85-year-old Patricia Pendergast was killed in the fire at 457 Main Street in Apalachin.

State troopers and members of Apalachin EMS attempted to enter the home and remove the victim just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 29 but were unsuccessful.

The victim was located by firefighters and transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The Apalachin Fire Department and EMS were assisted by firefighters from Owego and Campville along with Owego EMS, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, Tioga County Emergency Services and the Tioga County Fire Investigation team.
