The Owego community is mourning the loss of former Owego Fire Chief Ken Easton.

Easton joined the fire department in 1971 and dedicated 54 years of his life to the service of the Owego community.

He served in several roles within the Owego Fire Department, including fire chief, assistant chief, fire board president and squad captain.

In a Facebook post, the Owego Fire Department remembered Ken by saying “he didn’t just do the work, he led by example, showing the rest of us what it meant to serve selflessly.”

Donations can be made in Ken’s honor to the Owego Fire Department or the Owego Emergency Squad.
