The long-awaited roof replacement at Owego’s historic Central Fire Station has cleared a major hurdle with NYSEG.
The building is included on the National Register of Historic Places, but ongoing water damage from the deteriorating roof left fire officials eager to begin work.
After a communication breakdown NYSEG about de-powering the powerlines overhead, officials say they’ve now resolved their issues with the power company and have a plan in place to address the powerline issue.
Officials say these repairs are critical to preserving the building’s structural integrity and ensuring the operation of emergency services within.
