(Owego, NY) – Thomas (Tom) H. O’Hara, born and raised in Vestal, NY, passed away November 2, 2022. He was a member of the Army National Guard, spent 10 years with the Vestal Police Department, and was the proud owner of O’Hara’s Restaurant, Owego, NY, for over 50 years. He made many life-long friends at his place of business,who became his second family.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas and Michael, three grandchildren, Seamus, Caoilainn and Declan, brothers, James (Mary Ann), Edward, Joseph (Maureen), and two sisters, Mary, and Julia (Tim Murphy), sisters-in-laws, Roseanne and Peggy, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Julia, and two brothers Robert and Gerald.
We thank Mercy House who watched over him in his last days, all the people who visited him, and all the cards and gifts he received while he was ill. We also thank the staff at O’Hara’s Restaurant, his faithful customers, and all the many friends and family who supported him through the years.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal, on Friday, November 18, 11 a.m. Burial will be private. The O’Hara family will receive friends at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament church, Friday November 18, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
