Dental Health Month. Children’s Dental Health Month is a month-long national health observance every February to promote the benefits of good oral health to children, their parents and caregivers, and others. Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease and it is almost entirely preventable this good oral habits.

Over 40 UPK students learned about good dental health including brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing in the evening and eating healthy foods to avoid cavities. They also were able to practice brushing teeth on the Public Health Department’s puppet dinosaur and dragon. Each student went home with their own dental kit that included a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental flossers, and a two minute timer.

Remember a healthy smile starts with good oral hygiene, a healthy diet and routine dental visits. Start good habits early. Tioga County Public Health has a Mobile Dental Van that is available for county residents without a regular dental home. Call 607-687-8595 to schedule your appointment or for more information.
