Wildfires hit seven counties, including Tioga, last week

Firefighters across New York State battled wildfires last week, with the biggest one happening in Tioga County.

According to News Channel 34, there was eight wildfires in seven different counties on Oct. 23rd.

The largest of those eight wildfires was in the Town of Berkshire with is spanning 24 acres.

Forest Rangers said the causes of these fires included unattended campfires and debris burning.

The other fires took place in Steuben, St. Lawrence, Oneida, Ulster, Rockland and Dutchess Counties.
