Ithaca airport to receive over $3 million in federal funds for upgrades

The Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is set to receive more than $3 million dollars in federal funding.

According to Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, the funding was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Aiport Improvement Program and Airport Infrastructure Grant Program.

The airport will use the money to improve snow removal efforts, aircraft rescue and firefighting facilities.

The funding is part of more than $66 million in federal funding to upgrade airport faciltiies and equipment at 22 airports across New York State.
