Ithaca’s police chief says he’ll walk into the police station as a full-time sworn officer…for the final time on May 31st. Chief Pete Tyler announced Tuesday he is retiring. Tyler says whomever replaces him will face many challenges…to include an unsettled labor contract, staffing levels and the complex challenges associated with Professional 21st Century Policing. The 28-year veteran says he’ll continue to work part-time and looks forward to the next chapter.
