It was a difficult weekend in Ithaca. Just before 6:00 AM on Saturday, the Ithaca Police were dispatched to a report of a stabbing victim who had fled into the Walmart. Police located the victim inside the store and gave first aid, until the victim could be transported to a Trauma Center for treatment of their injuries. The incident is believed to have taken place in the area south of Walmart known as The Jungle. The suspect is known to the victim, and this is not believed to have been a random act of violence. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. The Ithaca Police Department is asking anyone with information that would aid this investigation to contact the Ithaca Police Department at 607-272-3245.

Later that night, police responded to the homeless encampment known as The Jungle regarding a shooting that had just occurred. The person that called in the complaint advised that she and a person, later identified as Terrance Jones, had gotten into an argument. During the argument, Jones threatened to stab her. Jones also discharged a shotgun during the argument. Jones then fled the area. There were no injuries. On Sunday, Jones was located inside a grocery store on South Meadow, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Menacing. Jones was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. Police have not said if they believe the two incidents are related.

Also on Saturday, the Ithaca Police responded to an apartment complex on Chestnut Street for a report of a person stabbed. The victim was located and advised that several people forced entry into his apartment and stabbed him. They also stole property from the apartment and then fled prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center for non-life-threatening injuries. Officers believe the victim and the suspects are known to each other. No further details are being released at this time. Anyone who may have information that would aid this investigation is encouraged to contact the Ithaca Police Department.
