Members of the Vestal Teachers’ Association held a picket on Tuesday evening outside of the Vestal Central School District administration building.
The teachers group were looking to raise public awareness that Vestal teachers have been working under an expired contract. Their most recent contract ended on June 30, 2024.
The teachers association and school district are still in contract negotiations but a deal has not been reached.
VTA President Joe Herringshaw told Fox 40 that one issue is how to share savings from a potential switch in healthcare.
Other issues in the negotiations have been salary, retiree healthcare and after school meetings for professional learning.
Herringshaw and Superintendent Clifford Kasson met on Monday in what has been described as a productive meeting.
