A vigil was held in downtown Binghamton on Tuesday to honor the victim in a deadly attack last week.
It was confirmed at the vigil that 45-year-old Peter Bennedum passed away days after he was allegedly attacked by a group of teenage boys in Binghamton on Monday, April 27.
Dozens of people gathered at Kennedy Park near where the attack took place to honor the victim with signs and candles.
Two 15-year-old males and two 14-year-old males were originally charged with attempted murder in the second degree. A 13-year-old suspect was released to his guardian with charges expected in the future.
It appears the assault was related to a social media trend of recording attacks on homeless individuals or people addicted to drugs. The victim did not have a permanent address at the time of the assault.
