AASD investigates incident on school bus, determines no credible threat

The Athens Area School District issued a statement about an incident that occurred on a school bus on Thursday.

According to the school district, the incident involved a student who made inappropriate remarks, including a comment that was perceived as a threat to the school.

The Athens High School administration and district immediately followed established safety protocols and engaged members of the Threat Assessment Team to review the situation. After a thorough assessment, it was determined that the comment did not represent a credible or substantiated threat.

The matter is being addressed by the high school in accordance with the student code of conduct.

According to the school district, at no time was there an ongoing threat to the safety of students or staff.

“The safety and security of our school community remain our top priority, and we will continue to respond swiftly and appropriately to any concerns,” said Corey Mosher, who is the Safety & Security Coordinator for the Athens Area School District.
