Athens man accused of assaulting girlfriend

A 34-year-old Athens man is facing charges after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and held her against her will.

According to Athens Borough Police, Andrew Michael Evans has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, simple assault and false imprisonment.

He was also charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident occurred on East Frederick Street at around 4 am on Saturday. Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute where a man allegedly threatened to kill people in an apartment.

The victim told police that Evans had punched her in the face multiple times.

After he allegedly resisted arrest and struggle with officers, Evans was arrested and remanded to the Bradford County Jail on $150,000 bail.
