Berkshire man behind bars after high-speed chase

A 36-year-old Berkshire man is behind bars after he led police on a high-speed chase that ended in the Susquehanna River.

According to court documents, David R. Keener was charged by Sayre Police with felony counts of aggravated assault, one count of evading arrest, fleeing an officer and flight to avoid apprehension.

He was also charged with 20 misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, one count of driving while license suspended, reckless driving and other related charges.

According to the Morning Times, the chase began on State Route 17C in Barton and crossed into Pennsylvania. The suspect ended up in Ulster before crossing over to Sheshequin Road and eventually reaching Riverside Drive in Sayre.

The chase would end up near Tioga Downs where the suspect vehicle drove into a corn field and ended up stuck on the side of the Susquehanna River.

Keener jumped into the river and was eventually apprehended by officers.

He was remanded to the Bradford County Jail on $200,000 bail.
