Bradford County District Attorney Richard A. Wilson announced sentences Thursday in several cases decided in the county Court of Common Pleas in Towanda. The district attorney’s office notes that Pennsylvania prison sentences commonly include both a minimum and a maximum term. A defendant generally serves at least the minimum before becoming eligible for parole supervision through the maximum.
Kyle R. Lane, 41, of Sayre was sentenced to a minimum of 186 months, or 15 years and six months, and a maximum of 480 months, or 40 years, in state prison for rape of a child, a first-degree felony. The court also found Lane to be a sexually violent predator. The district attorney’s release says he will be required to register under Pennsylvania’s sexual-offender law for life if he is released.
Bradley L. Cordner, 41, who was being held in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, received an overall sentence of 26 months to 120 months in state prison. The offenses included simple assault, attempted unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking.
The district attorney’s office says Cordner stole an ambulance from Towanda Memorial Hospital in January and drove it to South Main Street in Towanda Township before attempting to enter two occupied homes. He was on state parole at the time. The new sentence was added to the earlier term, creating a combined maximum of 228 months, or 19 years.
The same release lists additional sentences for drug delivery, driving under the influence, identity theft, retail theft, false reports and other offenses. The details announced Thursday concern sentences imposed after convictions or guilty pleas; they are not reports of newly filed allegations.
