A lawsuit filed against the Athens Area School District over an alleged hazing incident involving the football team has been settled.
The plaintiffs reached a settlement with the school district, superintendent Craig Stage and former high school principal, athletic director and football coach.
The terms of the settlement agreement have not been made public.
The incident occurred while the Athens football team was at a team camp at Bloomsburg University in July of 2022.
The victim was a sophomore on the team who accused two teammates of attacking him in a townhouse where he and more than a dozen players were staying during the camp.
The lawsuit claims the victim suffered injuries to his genitals, permanent injuries to his back and psychological injuries.
The lawsuit states the school district broke its own policy by allowing the trip to the multi-day, overnight football camp without receiving approval from the school board.
According to the Morning Times, a judge dismissed the lawsuit against defendants connected to Bloomsburg University.
