Rome man arrested after violent incident at RPH

A 75-year-old Rome man is behind bars after he allegedly barricaded himself in a room at the Robert Packer Hospital and assaulted staff.

According to police, Donald Allen Holton has been charged with six counts each of aggravated assault, terroristic threats and harassment, and one count of obstruction of governmental functions, resisting arrest and other related charges.

In total, Holton is facing 12 felony counts and 16 misdemeanors in connection with the incident.

Officers responded to the hospital for a report of a man with a knife who refused to leave.

Holton allegedly punched, grabbed and kicked several Guthrie employees, while also attempting to break one person’s arm and trying to bite another. He also allegedly threatened to shoot the victims and slice their throats.

Holton was remanded to the Bradford County Jail on $150,000 bail.
