A tractor trailer hauling 40,000 pounds of paint drove off Route 17 westbound and overturned at about 8PM Tuesday. The accident occurred in Waverly, near exit 61. Some of the 4500 containers ruptured but did not leak out of the trailer. The was a slow diesel leak from one of the tractors tanks. The right lane was blocked to facilitate recovery operations. The trailer needed to be unloaded by hand before an attempt to right the trailer could be made. That operation continued well into Wednesday. The driver had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Multiple agencies responded to the incident. There were no reported injuries among the first responders.
