(Towanda, PA) – Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/ Sullivan/ Susquehanna) has announced a $807,000 state grant for a renovation project at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus.
Pickett played a key role in securing the funding through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).
“I have been a strong supporter of the renovation project from the start and was happy to advocate for this state funding,” said Pickett. “Pennsylvania’s rural hospitals need all the help they can get to ensure the continued well-being of the communities they serve.”
The hospital will use the grant to renovate the first floor and update infrastructure to improve patient privacy, patient flow, emergency preparedness, energy efficiency and provide a new clinical service not currently offered in the region. The project includes improvements to the emergency department; relocation of the inpatient medical surgical unit; addition of acute inpatient rehabilitation services; and upgrades to roofing generators, medical gases system, HVAC, sprinklers and elevators.
The grant is in addition to $3.5 million in RACP funding the hospital was awarded last December for the same project.
RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic and historical improvement projects with a focus on job creation.
