In a joint session, the New York State Assembly and Senate have chosen Barbara Underwood as the state’s Attorney General through the end of the year. Underwood has served as the state’s Solicitor General since 2011 and was named acting Attorney General in the wake of Eric Schneiderman’s scandal driven resignation. Underwood is the first woman to hold the position. She has said that she does not plan to run for a full term in November.
