Coughlin & Gerhardt Discusses Landlord/Tenant Law Changes in NY

A new law came into effect earlier this year that drastically changed the laws regarding landlords and tenants in New York State.  Landlords are now required to provide tenants with receipts when rent is paid in any form of payment other than paper checks.  Also under the new law, eviction notices have been changed from 3 day notices to 14 days.  There are also changes to how security deposits must be handled.
