Governor Andrew Cuomo has started a statewide campaign to pass legislation entitled the Red Flag Protection Bill. The bill seeks to prevent certain individuals from obtaining firearms. Those individuals would be determined by the courts and would be judged to have potential to cause serious harm to themselves or others. The bill would attempt to prevent them from purchasing, possessing, or attempting to purchase any type of firearm including handguns, rifles, or shotguns. The bill would allow school administrators to seek court intervention against those students that they deem to be threats.
