Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed adding five days to the 2020 New York State Fair schedule. Cuomo added $4.9 million to his proposed 2020-21 budget, which he released Tuesday, to cover expenses for five days, expanding the fair to 18 days, including three weekends.

Before tickets can be sold, the state legislature must approve the proposal. Cuomo wants to fill those days with additional entertainment, including more free concerts at Chevy Court. If approved, the fair would run from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7 this year.

Cuomo’s budget proposal also includes $15 million to pay for capital improvements at the fairgrounds in Geddes, north of Syracuse.
