Gov. Cuomo Sending Emergency Aid to Food Banks, Only $1.1M to Southern Tier

We told you late last week about the increasing demand on local food pantries during the COVID-19 crisis. At that time, we said Gov. Andrew Cuomo had promised emergency money to food pantries. Now, Cuomo says the checks are in the mail.

According to a news release from the governor’s office, $1.1 million is targeted for the Southern Tier region … that’s the second lowest amount among eight regions in the state. Of the $25 million total, $18 million will be doled out to the four downstate regions.
