Governor Cuomo has signed legislation that will require those convicted of domestic abuse charges, to surrender all firearms. Previously, New York law prohibited the possession of firearms for individuals convicted of a felony or a limited number of misdemeanor offenses. This bill expanded the list of misdemeanor crimes that require the loss of a gun permit and the surrender of all firearms, if convicted.
