Former state Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos was convicted of corruption back in 2015. Last year, the US Supreme Court narrowed the definition of political corruption, and the conviction against Skelos was overturned and a new trial was ordered. Yesterday, Skelos was again found guilty on re-trial. Both Skelos and his son Adam were charged with eight counts related to bribery, extortion, and fraud; they were found guilty on all counts. The former Majority Leader’s political influence was used to provide Adam Skelos with ‘no show’ jobs. The defense claimed that Skelos was legally trying to help his son pay for his $675,000 home.
