NYSEG says it took 2,000 employees working through the weekend to restore power to nearly 188,000 customers across upstate New York. Friday’s inclement weather froze many trees and brought down many power lines. Although the Binghamton area fared better than most areas with only about 6,000 customers without power, shelters still had to be opened for those customers because of the cold temperatures, and prolonged period of the outages. As of last night, more than 90% of customers in the state that had lost power, have it back.
