A Binghamton man has been charged with murder following a shooting on Saturday night.
According to police, 51-year-old Terrell Heyward has been charged with murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
Police responded to Exchange Street at around 11:50 p.m. for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, they found 54-year-old Sarah Hauer unresponsive in the hallway. She was found with fatal gunshot wounds to the head.
The investigation revealed that Hauer was a close friend of a resident living on the 7th floor of the apartment building. When she tried to enter her friend’s apartment, she was confronted by the friend’s ex-boyfriend, who allegedly shot her.
