A Broome County man will spend decades in state prison for killing his three-week old daughter and attempting to kill his wife with a crossbow.
According to the Broome County District Attorney’s Office, Patrick Profriedt was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for murder in the second degree.
Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to residence on Route 41 in Colesville on June 26, 2023 for a report of a shooting.
The investigation revealed that Proefriedt shot his wife and newborn daughter with a crossbow. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while the wife was released from the hospital later that day with non-life-threatening injuries.
Profriedt was found hiding in the woods after running from the scene.
The 25 years to life sentence is the maximum allowed under New York State Law.
