New funding has been awarded in New York State to improve the capabilities of bomb squads to locate and prevent emergencies caused by improvised explosive devices. The Village of Endicott is one of a dozen communities to be selected in the grant program. $100,000 has been awarded to the Endicott Police Department, which supports the only fully equipped bomb squad in the region. In addition to improved equipment and advanced training, funding will be used by local bomb squad teams to enhance and improve coordination with law enforcement
organizations, including specialty teams such as tactical and explosive detection canine, and regional partners.
