(Athens, PA) – On October 23, Tanner’s Bar & Grill of Athens donated $5000 from The Oliver Brown Memorial Golf Tournament in support of Down Syndrome to Walk for Our Buddies, an organization dedicated to building awareness and community for individuals with Down Syndrome.

The tournament is held annually at Tomasso’s golf course in Waverly in memory of 19-year-old Athens native, Oliver Brown, an Army National Guard soldier who was killed in action in Iraq in 2005.

Along with the Athens Township Police Department title sponsorship, the tournament keeps Oliver’s memory alive while raising money to support the Walk for Our Buddies small grant program which provides assistance to individuals with Down Syndrome and their families in Bradford and Sullivan counties.

To date, Tanner’s has donated $24,500 from the golf tournament to the local nonprofit organization.
