Tioga Public Health: Average daily confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to decrease

With the release this week of COVID-19 data for February, the cumulative and daily averages of newly confirmed cases in Tioga County continued to decreased dramatically since the expected post-holiday surge late last year that resulted in seemingly uncontrollable family and community spread of the virus.
In the latest daily report dated March 1, Tioga Public Health reported a cumulative total of 2,858 confirmed cases among Tioga residents since last March, up 326 cases since February 1 or an average of almost 12 cases confirmed each day.
During the month of January, Tioga Public Heath handled a total of 767 new confirmed cases, an average of almost 28 cases a day. In the February 1, report, the running total of cases was 2,532 since last March.

Owego, NY – Tioga County Legislative Chairwoman Martha Sauerbrey reported the following Tioga County COVID-19 Statistics:

  • 2,864 Confirmed Cases  Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Tioga County since March 2020.
  • 44 Active Cases – Managed by Tioga County Public Health.
  • 70 Deaths – Total deaths reported to Tioga County Public Health since March 2020.
