Tioga’s Confirmed COVID Cases Exceed 2K; 1B Vaccines Can Be Scheduled This Week

Tioga County Public Health reported over the weekend that Priority 1B COVID vaccine appointments will be available this week. Please check local media, Tioga County website or Tioga Public Health Facebook for information and eligibility link.

The first COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Tioga County scheduled for Wednesday is fully booked. Additional vaccination clinics are being planned for future weeks for those eligible per Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Tioga County reached the 2,000 person mark in Saturday’s report for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

COVID-19 UPDATE  JANUARY 9, 2021

Owego, NY – Tioga County Legislature Chairwoman Martha Sauerbrey reported the following Tioga County COVID-19 Statistics:

  •  2,001 Confirmed Cases  Total confirmed cases, to date.
  •  518 Individuals in Mandatory Quarantine – These are individuals who have had close contact with someone who has tested positive, but is not displaying symptoms for COVID-19; or individuals who traveled outside of New York State.
  •  1,665 Recovered  Total number of individuals who had a confirmed case of COVID-19 and are now symptom free that meet the criteria to be released from isolation.
  •  272 Active Cases
  •  64 Deaths

This data is a snapshot of data provided by Tioga County Public Health. Tests are administered via various agencies and as well as processed by many laboratories. Test results are reported upon our receipt. 

Sauerbrey reported family and small social gatherings are a leading cause of community spread at this time.
