(Vestal) – Five art students at Vestal High School have been recognized in the 79th Scholastic Art Awards. Congratulations to Taylor Bryson, Lian Genese, Aliona Pomukchynsky, Delaney Schoenfeldt and Kyla Smith on their winning entries.
Sophomore Aliona Pomukchynsky received a Gold Key in the category of Design for her piece. Winning Honorable Mentions in Drawing & Illustration are Taylor Bryson and Kyla Smith, both juniors. Seniors Lian Genese and Delaney Schoenfeldt also received Honorable Mentions in the categories of Film & Animation and Printmaking, respectively.
The winning art of all regional winners will be on display in the Arnot Art Museum’s East Gallery
from February 1 to March 6. The Arnot Art Museum is located at 235 Lake St., Elmira, NY. The exhibition will also be available to view digitally on the Museum’s website, www.arnotartmuseum.org
In April, Aliona’s Gold Key piece will go to New York City for the National Scholastic judging.

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers celebrates the creative achievement of America’s teens and, in 1923, founded the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in order to offer recognition and scholarships to students based on their artistic talents.
