Vestal Man Sentenced to Six-Year Term for Arson Fire at Home Central Hardware

Richard E. Millard, of Vestal, was sentenced Tuesday to six years in New York State Prison, to be followed by four years’ parole, for second-degree Arson, for a February 13, 2020, fire that damaged Home Central at Four Corners in the Town of Vestal.

“Richard E. Millard will serve a prison sentence of six years, followed by parole, for this act of violence,” said
District Attorney Michael A. Korchak. “We would like to thank the Vestal Police Department, and Broome
County Bureau of Fire Investigation, for their hard work on this case, in addition to the many fire departments
and first responders who responded to the scene.”

Millard intentionally damaged a building located at 199 Stage Road, in Vestal, by starting a fire. He was charged by the Vestal Police Department March 26, 2020, and pleaded guilty August 10, 2020.
