Owego, NY – Veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam and peacetime invite Veterans of Modern Warfare of Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan for a ‘Welcome Home” at Veterans Day 2021 at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 11, at the Glenn A. Warner Memorial Hall of Post 1371 Veterans of Foreign Wars on Main Street in Owego.
The President of the Veterans of Modern Warfare Danielle Ingram will extend the Welcome Home. Also welcomes to Gold Star Families and Purple Heart and Valor Honor Recipients. VFW Post 1371 Honor Guard will Post the Colors. National Anthem by Owego Free Academy Choir. Invocation/Benediction by Deacon Michael Donovan. Taps by Bugler Steve Palinosky.
Two significant anniversaries. Thirty four years ago for the Tioga County Veterans Memorial and 13 years for Route 38 – Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway of Valor.

This is the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. For the past 15 months Owego’s Kyle Austin Williams has been a Tomb Guard earning the highest rank of Sentinel. The Woloch -Williams Family will share his experiences.
Owego Apalachin Eighth Grade Teacher Michael Brtlow will ask for veterans to volunteer for his students project “In Harm’s Way.
Kiwanian Lou Sauerbrey, of the WEBO Morning Show, describes the “V” flag formation at Kiwanis Circle. Marie Ward shares WWII letters home from veterans. Kevin Rung focuses on “War Horses.” Veterans are invited to share their service experiences and what Veterans Day means to them.
At 11 a.m. churches are encouraged to ring eleven times their church bell/chimes and fire and emergency vehicles sound their sirens. Community invited to recognize veterans and urged to bring wartime memorabilia for the display table.
